Death wherever he goes
Sadly, the Honolulu motorcycle police officer who was critically injured while escorting President Bush's motorcade last week, died Sunday. Steve Favela was only 30 years old, and he leaves behind his wife and four small children. Our deepest sympathies go out to Officer Favela's family. I doubt that they will ever feel thankful on Thanksgiving again.
In a statement, Bush said that he and the first lady send their condolences and that they are "deeply saddened" by the death. "Officer Favela risked his life every day to protect the people of his community," Bush said in the statement.
True, but he didn't die protecting the people of his community, did he? Why does that statement sound so insensitive to me? A little like oh well, it was part of the job. Just another notch on ol' George's pro-life, pro-war belt.
Unfortunately Mr. Bush will be unable to attend Officer Favela's funeral, as he is otherwise occupied with his never-ending campaign to start World War III.
Two more years is way too long.
